Alqasuom Art Gallery was established in the Alqasuom Regional Council, west of Be’er Sheva, as a new cultural space that connects the seven recognized Bedouin villages within the council, as well as additional communities in the area, through art, culture, and local activity.
The gallery, one of the few of its kind in Israel operating within a Bedouin village and presenting rotating exhibitions by local residents, was born from a desire to create a meeting point: a place where heritage, memory, and a contemporary viewpoint can coexist as an open space for change and transformation.
The visual identity we developed for the gallery is rooted in the name of the council – Alqasuom, the Achillea flower. The flower was placed at the center of the symbol, around which we built trilingual typography in Hebrew, Arabic, and English, echoing the residents who gather around the gallery. In this way, the logo becomes a marker of place: rooted, local, open, and polyphonic.
We later also designed the identity for the gallery’s first exhibition, “Memory Fields”, curated by Raz Gluzman and opened in August 2025. The works in the exhibition presented Bedouin heritage from a futuristic perspective, in which the connection to the land is not only a memory of the past, but also a possibility for future action.
The exhibition logo is constructed from lines resembling furrows in a field, converging toward a vanishing point and creating a sense of depth within an open landscape. The lines are not entirely straight or stable; they are organic, trembling as they meet the letters, like memory itself – a living, fragile material that erodes, shifts, and is rebuilt over time.
